This five‑night cycling trip is designed for keen amateur riders who want to enjoy one of the French Alps’ most iconic locations, with great riding, flexible days in the saddle and a memorable highlight to finish the week.

Taking place in legendary Alpe d’Huez in Isère from 6 to 11 June 2026, the trip is centred around exploring the area’s classic road rides and climbs at your own pace. Over the first part of the week, you’ll have time to settle in and acclimatise, choosing from a carefully researched selection of routes that showcase the best of the region. We have developed almost a dozen itineraries to suit a range of abilities and riding styles, each with its own character. Detailed route notes and GPX files are provided, and while riding is self‑guided, you can ride solo or join others of a similar level if you wish - we’ll be helping put groups together each day.

Alongside the riding, the week includes the option to take part in Epic21, a relaxed, personal challenge that brings the trip to a natural high point. On the challenge day, participants can choose to ride the famous 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d’Huez as many times as they like. That might be two climbs, three steady ascents, or a little more if the legs feel good. There is no set target and no pressure to take part at all.

The challenge is modular; many riders will see two or three ascents as a satisfying and achievable goal, while more experienced cyclists may choose to keep going, with up to eight ascents representing an Everesting‑style effort.

The trip is organised by Peak Retreats, French Alps specialists since 2002, and will be hosted by founders Xavier and Olivier, both keen road cyclists with deep local knowledge. Their focus is on creating an enjoyable, well‑run cycling trip where the riding, the setting and the sense of achievement all come together in a way that suits you.
